I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, and ever since I was a kid I’ve had an entrepreneurial and competitive spirit. When I was 12, my grandfather taught me to read the stock quotes in the New York Times, and gave me an insight into the way the markets work. Since then I’ve been mesmerized by the inner workings of the business world, so when I went to Binghamton University, it was natural for me to major in Finance and Marketing.

When I first started at the Bank I had a lot of enthusiasm, but soon realized that I needed a solid knowledge base to support that passion. As an Analyst the training was extensive and helped me develop my core skills. I’m currently taking career ‘next steps’ with senior level management, working with a great deal of responsibility on projects that used to require supervision.

I’ve built my career with Deutsche Bank from an internship to post-graduate training, and I now have a full-time position. The journey started between my junior and senior year of college, when I participated in the Analyst Internship Program. I then received an offer to join the Analyst Training Program the following year.

The program began with five weeks of training in London, which provided a truly global introduction to investment banking. I received an overview of all business areas and a deep dive into the field of Transaction Banking. When I returned to the States, my first rotation was in Cash Management - Liquidity Product Management.

Each of my rotations lasted about three months. In my fourth and final rotation, I was approached by the head of GTB with an offer to join Liquidity Product Management. It was a fantastic opportunity and I couldn’t pass it up.

Every day is different in Transaction Banking. I could be taking part in meetings with different business groups, or joining conference calls from the UK, Germany and Asia – there’s always a challenge around the corner.

I work in the Liquidity Product Management team. This was my first and favorite rotation during my Analyst Training Program. I went through three more rotations, but when I was offered a full time role I wanted to join this division because I find the work endlessly fascinating.

I found the Analyst Training Program was the most pivotal experience of my career. It’s when the opportunities really started opening up for me. You start at square one every three to four months with each new rotation. Once you get good at something, you move on to learn something different. The point is to develop essential skills, not intensive expertise. I’ve found that deep-level expertise comes much later.

I was exposed to the Bank’s senior management, and this was an important chance to prove myself. That’s probably been the greatest benefit to my career. The global nature of Transaction Banking puts you in contact with a huge number of talented people.

I’ve learned that working for a bank with a global presence like DB, allows for greater career opportunities, and you get back far more than you put in. And when you give a lot the rewards speak for themselves. My next step is to make the most of our global network. I’d like to leverage the relationships I’ve made, perhaps into a new market or a more global position.

Seeing as the majority of my weekdays are spent indoors, I enjoy being out and about on the weekends. Whether it’s playing sports with friends, going to the beach or exploring greater New York, I make every attempt to do something active.

Since I was young, I’ve had a driving passion for sports. Whether it’s soccer, basketball, football, golf or baseball, I’ve always found a way to get involved. I love the competitive element and the camaraderie that develops when you’re part of a team. But my passion isn’t just limited to playing – I’m a diehard fan and love sports trivia. Obviously, being from Pittsburgh, my favorite team is the Steelers - and they may me proud last year with their Super Bowl win!
