Deutsche Bank honored for its commitment to art
September 22, 2009

Deutsche Bank has been honored for its visionary partnership with the Guggenheim Foundation and the outstanding achievements that have been fostered through this unique collaboration.

The honor was announced on Wednesday, 16 September when the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City, US, hosted the 2009 Guggenheim International Gala as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.

Hosted at the landmark Guggenheim Museum on Fifth Avenue in New York City, guests enjoyed a preview of the Kandinsky retrospective opening, as well as Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's new performance installation, Levels of Nothingness, inspired by Kandinsky's Yellow Sound and featuring Isabella Rossellini. Deutsche Bank was a sponsor of the performance, which is an interactive installation allowing participants to speak into a microphone and watch as their voice is converted to colors and projected around the museum's theatre by a network of spotlights.

Richard Armstrong, director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and Museum, introduced a tribute video highlighting Deutsche Bank's many accomplishments in the arts. "We are pleased to recognize Deutsche Bank, not only for its longstanding commitment to the Guggenheim Foundation, but also for its continuing support of the arts throughout the world," he said.

In 1997 Deutsche Bank and the Solomon R. Guggenheim established as a unique joint venture the exhibition space Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin.
