Contemporary Art
Deutsche Bank Group has supported and engaged in the development of contemporary art since launching its ‘Art at Work’(now, ‘Art Works’) concept in 1979 to enable employees to encounter the ‘messages’ of contemporary art in their workplaces. At the heart of this commitment is the Deutsche Bank Art Collection of more than 53,000 works, leading it to become one of the largest corporate art collections in the world today.
Contemporary art encapsulates the issues and problems of society and our hopes for the future in a single surface. The ‘Art Works’ concept brings the inquiry of our emotions and the messages inherent in contemporary art to our offices around the world. As well as being displayed in the world’s art museums and galleries, the Deutsche Bank Art Collection is on display in meeting rooms, hallways and offices for all employees to see and reflect upon as well as for local communities to enjoy. And through this commitment to contemporary art, Deutsche Bank Group offers a wide variety of programmes to support the creative development of schools and students.
These activities were initiated in Japan in 2006, with the display of representative works from the Deutsche Bank Art Collection at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo. Since then, Deutsche Bank Group has sponsored several exhibitions and hosted a few seminars and gatherings.
