O Grupo Deutsche Bank AG iniciou a sua actividade em Portugal em 1978, através da MDM, uma sociedade de consultoria financeira, a qual, em 1983 foi transformada em sociedade de investimento.
Em 1990 foi criado o Deutsche Bank de Investimento, S.A., com sede em Lisboa, resultante da transformação da MDM em banco de investimento, permitindo alargar a actividade até então exercida, de consultoria financeira e financiamentos a médio e longo prazos, às operações de crédito a curto prazo, às operações cambiais e de derivados, aos produtos de banca transacional e à angariação de depósitos.
Em 1997, deu-se início ao desenvolvimento das áreas de Private Banking e Consumer Financing e, no final de 1999, do Crédito à Habitação para particulares. Entretanto, com o objectivo de melhor refletir a universalidade dos negócios desenvolvidos pelo DB em Portugal, ainda em 1999, o Deutsche Bank de Investimento, S.A. deu lugar ao Deutsche Bank (Portugal), S.A. Em Outubro de 2002 nasce, formalmente no Deutsche Bank em Portugal a área de Private & Business Clients.
Actualmente, a rede do Deutsche Bank em Portugal é composta por 39 balcões próprios e 28 agências de Promotores, oferecendo uma ampla gama de produtos e serviços a empresas e particulares.
