Spreading hope on April Fool’s Day

April 2017 │ Singapore

As the world observed April Fool’s Day, Deutsche Bank volunteers in Singapore gathered to help the Muscular Dystrophy Association Singapore (MDAS) raise funds by selling flags on the street. Aside from offering assistance to people with muscular dystrophy, MDAS collaborates with researchers to understand the disease and make breakthroughs in treating it.

Volunteers spent three weekends, from March 25 to April 8, at various tactical locations in the city helping raise awareness and funds for MDAS, DPA (Disabled People’s Association) and SPD.

DPA engages with policymakers and other stakeholders to ensure people with working disabilities are involved in the consultation, implementation and evaluation of policies and programmes that affect them.

SPD helps people with disabilities maximise their potential and integrate them into mainstream society.

One of the volunteers said: “Many counted the collections till late into the night. It has been a rewarding exercise for all building on this relationship with the NGOs in a meaningful and impactful way.”
