Celebrating Christmas with Yirui and children suffering from cerebral palsy

December 2015 │ China

On December 27, two Beijing colleagues attended a special Christmas party organised by Yirui, a Deutsche Bank-supported organisation which provides free physical therapy treatment to children suffering from cerebral palsy.

Despite great difficulties with mobility and speech, many children demonstrated their healing process and natural talent through singing, reading and music playing in the festive evening. They were excited to receive bundles of gifts from “Santa”. These children are from various Yirui-aided centres in Shen Yang, Inner Mongolia, Beijing and Hebei. Deutsche Bank sponsors treatment at the Living Tree Centre in Yanjiao, Hebei. One volunteer who joined the party said, “I am very grateful to be given this opportunity to know these children. Their optimism and smiley faces are contagious – they always endeavor to learn new things, make friends and enrich their lives despite the disabilities. You can feel their strength, which encourages you to embrace each day with passion.”

Under the Born to Be theme, Deutsche Bank started working with Yirui Foundation to provide free therapy to orphans with cerebral palsy in the Living Tree Centre in October 2015. The sponsorship of one treatment device will benefit 12 to 24 children over a 12-month period. The treatment aims to help the children gain greater ability in daily activities such as eating, dressing and walking more independently, thus improving their quality of life. Five volunteers from the Beijing Branch visited the Living Tree Centre in October to help feed and teach simple movements to the children.
