Deutsche Bank Singapore holds charity bazaar to raise funds for Typhoon Haiyan

November 2013 │ Singapore

The annual Christmas Charity Bazaar in Singapore was held in the One Raffles Quay office on November 29. Eight local charities and one regional charity were invited to set up booths selling various items for charity, including handmade jewellery, bags, novelty items, baked goods, and finger food. Deutsche Bank volunteers championed each cause and took the lead in liaising with the charities. More than 20 volunteers helped to set up and man the stalls, enthusiastically promoting the products to colleagues.

In light of the devastating typhoon that hit Philippines last month, two additional stalls were set up to raise funds for victims of the disaster. One sold various social enterprise products, such as bags, soft toys and keychains from regional charity partners. Another stall, led by Credit Risk Management, presented various baked goods, all made by staff over two evenings after work. In a friendly bidding contest, a fruit tart was sold for an astonishing SGD 7,000; the full sum went to disaster relief efforts.

The bazaar raised a total of SGD 15,300 for participating charities, including SGD 9,200 raised specifically for Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts.
