Football match for Ananya children

Riding on the excitement from the recently-concluded 2014 FIFA World Cup, volunteers from Deutsche Bank India Service Centres arranged a football match on July 19 for children in Ananya, a non-profit providing a unique learning space for children not accepted in mainstream schools. Ananya was set up in 1998 by a group of dedicated individuals who saw the need to educate poor and underprivileged children in Indian society.

With football euphoria fresh in their minds, the children attempted to emulate their favourite football heroes on a real football field; many of these children had never played on a proper field before and they greatly enjoyed this experience.

Around 20 volunteers from Deutsche Bank coordinated and helped to conduct the match successfully.  Post-match, lunch was organised for the children. The volunteers had a brief interactive session with the children and returned home with sweet memories of the joy on the children’s faces.
