Career Workshop for the special-abled and underprivileged students

January 2016 │ Hong Kong

For the third year in a row, Chief Operating Office (COO) Technology & Operations Hong Kong organised a series of career workshops on January 13, aimed at helping special-abled and underprivileged students in Hong Kong prepare for university admission and job hunting by discovering their career aspirations.

Held in partnership with four local schools, where the majority of students have physical challenges or are from the low-income families, the workshops covered topics including resume writing and interview skills. Additionally, volunteers conducted mock interviews with the students, enabling them to practice their interview skills and gain valuable job interview experience  to help in their job search.

One of the mock interviewers said, "As a mock interviewer, I was deeply humbled by the will, courage and intelligence of the students. Many people in society face struggles and hardships, and while that saddens me somewhat, I also realised that there is hope and society as a whole is compassionate and supportive."

Another volunteer said, “I really enjoyed myself during this event as I was able to reach out to the students who can benefit from our help. With the resume writing and interview skills taught in the presentation, the students have now developed greater confidence in seeking career opportunities."

Apart from the workshops, the students were also given a tour of the Deutsche Bank office. One volunteer, who led the students on a tour, said, “I was glad to hear that the students learned useful skills in the workshop. They also showed great interest in the banking industry through the questions they raised.”
