Hong Kong volunteers help build nesting grounds at Long Valley

May 2017 │ Hong Kong

Collaborating with the Conservancy Association, 20 Deutsche Bank Hong Kong staff and family members spent a day in nature, digging through the marsh and wading through mud to build two new bird islands in Long Valley. The bird islands are breeding and nesting sites for various species of water birds, allowing them to lay their eggs away from the ground where they are vulnerable.

Not only did the volunteers go home with a new tan, they left Long Valley with a deeper appreciation of the importance of wildlife conservation. A volunteer commented: “It was wonderful to see the cooperation between the Conservancy Association and the local farmers in maintaining and protecting the habitats."

Deutsche Bank has been supporting the Conservancy Association in its wetlands management efforts since 2011 through funding and volunteering.
