Kalwara school in India get laboratories refurbished

September 2013 │ India

The right learning environment not only promotes learning and thinking, but also helps ensure that students do not miss classes. With their existing laboratories in a dilapidated condition and unsuitable for usage, the school in Kalwara did not have an optimal environment for learning. Following discussions with the school staff, the Jaipur Corporate Responsibility committee decided to equip the school with well-maintained computer laboratories.

In addition, outstanding issues included poor ventilation, improper lighting, lack of network connectivity, lack of dust proofing, damaged flooring and blackboards, seepage on the walls from rain and a scarcity of instructors. The exposed wires at the electrical points were also a potential hazard.

The committee drew out the scope of the project, sought quotations from vendors, charted their plan of action and set the team to work on the lab refurbishment.

Inaugurated on September 13, 2013, the laboratory now offers a clean and pleasant learning experience to 180 students in Kalwara. They now study in a comfortable and safe environment with appropriate lighting, natural ventilation and painted walls. Multiple sessions with the teachers and students have created curiosity and aroused interest amongst the students, who cannot resist being sure to not miss their classes.
