Making chocolate dreams a reality in Singapore

June 2017 │ Singapore

For every child, an afternoon filled with chocolate is the stuff that dreams are made of. A team of colleagues from the Singapore Regulatory office made this a reality for children from Life Community Services Singapore (LCSS), by organising a chocolate party one Tuesday afternoon. The chocolate-themed event aimed to teach the children about values, while bringing them joy and creating memorable experiences.

Group leaders led the children through exciting chocolate‐themed games and stations, where they learnt important values such as honesty, teamwork and discipline. Some of the stations were hot favourites, such as the cookie decorating station, and the chocolate fondue station, which saw the children delightedly coating fruits and marshmallows in chocolate.

In return for making their chocolate dreams come true, the children performed light-hearted and engaging skits for the volunteers. Through the skits, the children exhibited their enthusiasm, team‐work and a great sense of humour, whilst managing to highlight different values they had learnt at the student care centre.

Bonding as a team and working closely to prepare for the event, the chocolate endorphin-filled day was similarly a sweet  and meaningful experience for the volunteers. One of the summer interns shared, “It was a really rewarding experience to see the children light up with smiles and enjoy themselves. Their happiness brings warmth to all of us here.”

Life Community Services Society supports socially disadvantaged families by offering student care, especially for those families where one of the parents is incarcerated. For the past seven years, Deutsche Bank has been involved with LCSS’s causes by organising and contributing various programmes to engage and to build the confidence of the children.
