Mangrove restoration at Sirindhorn International Environmental Park, Thailand

June 2011 │ Thailand

On 11 June 2011, 82 staff volunteers from Deutsche Bank Bangkok and their family members traveled three hours by coach to Petchaburi, a province located in the south of Bangkok to take part in a mangrove restoration project at Sirindhorn International Environmental Park.

This was initiated in September 2010 as part of the Bank’s broader sustainability effort to promote staff volunteerism and environmental protection. Encouraged by the ecological value of the project, Deutsche Bank volunteers this year planted over 700 trees and also cleaned up a nearby beach. It is hoped that the restoration of mangroves will reduce coastal erosion, provide more breeding sites for marine species and aid the regeneration of fish stocks.
