Mock interview workshop for PAS students

November 2013 │ Hong Kong

After the success of the mock interview workshop in October, on November 9 Deutsche Bank Hong Kong Risk, Compliance and Group Technology & Operations (GTO) employees united to prepare students from Princess Alexandra School (PAS) for their last step in the job-hunting process. Twelve graduating students from PAS, a local secondary school for students with physical and other disabilities, went to Deutsche Bank’s Hong Kong office in the International Commerce Centre on a sunny Saturday for a mock interview prepared by Deutsche Bank employees.

In the client meeting rooms, Deutsche Bank employees interviewed the students in an environment resembling one that external candidates encounter before joining the bank.  Thereafter, the students were toured  the office, where they were introduced to some background about Deutsche Bank and its core businesses.

Lunch followed the tour, with the students exchanging ideas and asking questions about opportunities within the banking industry while enjoying the food. The event ended with a sharing session by the interviewers, who provided feedback including interview tips and skills.

Katie Leung from Market Risk Management, one of the organisers of the event, commented, “I am impressed that all students were well-prepared for the interviews. They were so excited to be in our office, as it was their first chance to learn about a real working environment. The most interesting part was during lunch, when the students asked questions about our daily life in the bank, and even tips for investment.”

The responses from the students have also been very positive.  For most, it was their first job-related interview, which provided them with a good opportunity to gain experience in responding to questions in job interviews.
