Restoring sight with Orbis International

January 2017 │ Asia

The MD-10 Orbis Flying Eye Hospital (FEH) visited Singapore last December, when Deutsche Bank staff had the once-in-a-lifetime experience opportunity to tour the world’s only FEH. Deutsche Bank supports Orbis International in their FEH missions in the region, helping to restore sight. Through the tour, visitors learnt about how Orbis International helps prevent and treat blindness.

The tour extended Deutsche Bank’s volunteering earlier in September 2016, where over three weeks, volunteers from around the region flew into Shenyang, China to provide translation and administrative support. During the volunteering trip, Orbis provided training to approximately 574 medical professionals; and screened 208 eyes, and treated 242 patients.

ORBIS International is a nonprofit working to prevent and treat blindness through hands-on training, public health education and improved access to quality eyecare. For the past 33 years, ORBIS has carried out programmes in more than 90 countries, enhanced the skills of 325,000 eye care professionals and improved over 23 million lives. The FEH is its most iconic programme.

This year Deutsche Bank is supporting Orbis International in Can Tho, Vietnam.
