Visit to the Aquarium with LCSS
December 2013 │ Singapore
On Friday, December 6, 16 employees from Deutsche Bank Singapore’s Risk division spent a day with 43 less-privileged children from Life Community Service Society (LCSS) at the SEA Aquarium in Sentosa. The children were mostly from the lower income group or have parents who are/were incarcerated, hence visits to the aquarium are rare for them. The event helped the children to realise that the community at large does care for them, evidenced by the overwhelming response from the children. The day was filled with fun activities, including games and a drawing competition with presentation of NTUC gift vouchers to each child from the Singapore Risk leadership team.
Life Community Services Center, est in 1996, works with the children and families who are mostly from the lower income group and children whose parents are incarcerated. LCSS provides four core services; i) provides care & support for children (7-13 years old) with parent/s presently/formerly incarcerated, ii) befriends & mentors youths (12-19 years old) with parent/s presently/formerly incarcerated, iii) provides quality student care services to primary school children by focusing on the child's total development in a safe and congenial ‘home’ environment, and iv) works with latchkey children in the Telok Blangah vicinity by affirming and motivating them to LEAD Intentional Fruitful Empowered life.
