A day of music and art for Deutsche Singapore

November 2012 │ Singapore

Deutsche Bank staff in Singapore celebrated compassion through art, as they put brush to canvas and joined the local Charities of the Year (CotY) beneficiaries for a lunchtime mural painting session on Wednesday, November 28 in One Raffles Quay. The mural designed by Social Creatives, a social enterprise, celebrates Deutsche Bank's 40th anniversary in Singapore and tells the Deutsche Singapore CSR story, honouring a year of giving and volunteerism. The mural was partly painted by children and elderly community members who represented the three charities supported by CotY.

The event was attended by Gunit Chadha, Co-CEO Asia Pacific and members of Regional Management. Chadha himself picked up the brush and painted a few strokes as he lauded the efforts of staff in Singapore in mobilising over SGD 600,000 for charity.

While staff and guests took turns and tried their hand with the paintings, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra played various pieces from traditional Chinese to a Latin tango medley, in addition to popular Christmas tunes.

The event was organised under the auspices of CotY (Charities of the Year) 2012, a year-long programme to engage staff to reach out and support worthy causes. CotY was launched in January to give employees in Singapore an opportunity to participate and contribute towards raising SGD 600,000 over the course of 2012, through various individual and group efforts as well as divisional and country fund raising activities.

“It was a unique experience combining music, murals and mingling with charity partners. It was great to see the enthusiasm of our colleagues in the various CSR initiatives during the course of the year, and what better way to end the year” remarked Akash Mohapatra, Associate General Counsel, Legal and Chairperson, CotY 2012 fund raising committee.
