Boys from NGO Support join employees at the Deutsche Football Mumbai League

September 2012 │ India

The overcast Saturday morning on September 1, prospects of a wet field and traffic jams all the way to the Kandivili Sport Authority of India ground threatened the kick-off of the Deutsche Football Mumbai League 2012 .

Gradually, the teams started trickling in and the registrations built up until all the colourful football t-shirts were swarming onto the field for warm-ups. Registrations closed with 40 teams from Deutsche Bank, including four all-girl teams who were participating for the first time.

The CSR team and Sports Committee also organised a special match – the boys from Support, a non-governmental organization working towards the rehabilitation of children with a history of drug abuse enjoyed the opportunity to interact with the Deutsche bankers and indulged in some healthy competition on the muddy field. The boys, who received football kits complete with jerseys, were delighted since this was the first time that they had played in jerseys, on a proper football ground and with formal rules.
