Deutsche Bank celebrates the new year with Weifang Sunshine House

February 2014 │ China

On Sunday, February 16, volunteers from Deutsche Bank and students from Weifang Sunshine House in Shanghai enjoyed the Lantern Festival gathering together – Deutsche Bank China’s first Corporate Responsibility event in 2014. Deutsche Bank started its partnership with Weifang – a charity for mentally challenged students founded by the Chinese government – in 2009. Deutsche Bank organises quarterly outings and lunchtime teaching sessions to help the students gain a better perception of the world.

During the three-hour event, 15 Deutsche Bank volunteers and 15 students paired up to exchange gifts and New Year wishes.  “I’m so happy that I can go out to enjoy this big meal with so many friends from Deutsche Bank!” a student from Weifang said.

A parent also expressed her appreciation to Deutsche Bank volunteers for contributing their time, which gives her child the rare opportunity to leave the house and enjoy the outdoors. A volunteer also commented that it was a good way for her to give her time outside of work to those who need help.
In the new year, Deutsche Bank China will be planning more meaningful volunteering activities to engage the community.
