Deutsche Bank Korea 'Dreaming Butterfly' VISION Art Camp

Deutsche Bank Korea 'Dreaming Butterfly' VISION Art Camp

September 2013 │ Korea

The Deutsche Bank Korea’s Dreaming Butterfly programme aims to help and inspire teenagers leaving orphanages as they become older, and to empower them to help themselves.

VISION Art Camp, a part of the Dreaming Butterfly residential programme, was an event held across three days from Wednesday, July 24 to Friday, July 26 at the Yongin University College of Arts and Culture. 82 teens from nine orphanages, all member institutions of the Dreaming Butterfly programme, participated in the VISION Art Camp.  VISION Art Camp was held for the purpose of bringing together teens from different orphanages to give theman opportunity to share their thoughts, rise above their circumstances and dream of a new future together. Participants artistically manifested their own stories, then utilised the artwork in their cooperative theater production, and performed before an audience. Through the camp, students were able to recover a sense of self-worth, and ponder deeply about the future that they needed to build.

Coming from different care institutions meant some initial awkwardness and shyness, but through fun physical activities such as the skit and the group-oriented sports-day, the participating teens were able to warm-up, converse openly, and sympathise with one another.
