Deutsche Bank makes ‘green music’
March 2012 │ Singapore
In celebration of Green Week, Deutsche Bank organized a workshop for employees with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) to make ‘green music’ using recycled materials. Led by SCO’s associate conductor Quek Ling Kiong, a group of more than 50 employees used various materials such as plastic bottles, books, and glass bottles to make music. A few employees were also given the chance to conduct our ‘green orchestra’, experiencing first-hand the challenges of leading an orchestra.
As part of Deutsche Bank Lunchtime Concert Series, the second concert by Singapore Chinese Orchestra was held on April 18. This session featured the string section and the orchestra played a mix of jazz fusion pieces and familiar popular culture tunes, such as the theme from Mission Impossible. The Bank also invited elderly folks from Yong-En Care Centre, one of the winners of Charity of the Year Singapore, to enjoy the performances with us.
