Deutsche volunteers rebuild a school damaged by the 2011 floods

October 2012 │ Thailand

Over two days on October 6 and 7, 77 Deutsche Bank volunteers and their family members travelled to the Ban Prachasamakkee School, a primary school in Nakornsawan Province approximately three hours overland from Bangkok.

In the 2011 Thailand floods, the school was inundated by as much as three metres of water which damaged its wooden floors and destroyed much of the walls.  Our volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help reconstruct new walls and gave them a fresh coat of paint.  In addition, a new playground, educational materials and sport equipment were donated to three other neighbouring schools using funds gathered from earlier fund-raising activities.  In all, the project affected a total of 1,500 beneficiaries.
