After the success of the mock interview workshop in October, on November 9 Deutsche Bank Hong Kong Risk, Compliance and Group Technology & Operations (GTO) employees united to prepare students from Princess Alexandra School (PAS) for their last step in the job-hunting process. Twelve graduating students from PAS, a local secondary school for students with physical and other disabilities, went to Deutsche Bank’s Hong Kong office in the International Commerce Centre on a sunny Saturday for a mock interview prepared by Deutsche Bank employees. more

‘Castles Can Fly’ brings families together

On September 29, 20 volunteers, including Deutsche Bank staff, their friends and family members, took 74 individuals from medium and low income families to Shek O Beach for a session of sand castle building. Titled ‘Castles Can Fly’, the project represented a unique way of using sandcastle building as a means to improve relationships between parents and teenagers in Hong Kong. more

SEWA Day Hong Kong – donate time through service rather than money

On Sunday, October 6, 2013, more than 40 Deutsche Bank Hong Kong staff and family participated in the Sewa Day Food For Life project by cooking and distributing vegetarian food to over 1,000 underprivileged and elderly people in Hong Kong. Introduced to Deutsche Bank by Dixit Joshi, Head of Equities, Asia, this year’s event represented Deutsche Bank's second association with Food For Life, one of the world's largest vegetarian food relief networks. The project entailed chopping, cooking, packing, delivering and distributing food to the beneficiaries. Volunteers were being exposed to a different side of Hong Kong through the three delivery centres in Kowloon and New Territory (Sham Shui Po, Tuen Mun and Nam Cheong), leaving an indelible mark on all of them. more

Fun Cooking Workshop with Po Leung Kuk

On June 1, 12 Deutsche Bank volunteers from Global Business Services (GBS) joined the Fun Cooking Workshop with the Corporate Responsibility (CR) committee. This is the second year the CR committee has partnered with Po Leung Kuk Chan Siu Po Integrated Rehabilitation Centre, which provides a range of services including in-house integrated vocational training programmes and day training to physically and mentally challenged people in the Tin Shui Wai community. more

Art Basel in Hong Kong with disadvantaged children

On May 25, Deutsche Bank volunteers spent an inspiring morning with students at Art Basel in Hong Kong, supporting our engagement with arts and society and also enjoying a new perspective on some of the amazing artworks on display. This Art4Kids event is an art education programme for local schoolchildren supported by Deutsche Bank, in partnership with Chun Tok School (formerly named as the Hong Kong School of Deaf). The Bank invited 30 students from the school to participate in artistic activities and respond creatively to artworks, recognising the validity of their reactions and developing understanding of key concepts – in this case, composition, medium and colour. The internationally-acclaimed Art Basel exhibition provided a fantastic platform for this. more

Hong Kong gives Chinese New Year red packets to the disadvantaged

2013 and the Year of the Snake started off with a bang as the Bank’s Hong Kong employees raised over HKD60,000 for the first Corporate Responsibility event of the year. The campaign, driven by Global Technology, encouraged employees to Pass on their Passion by Passing on a Red Packet with a donation in the spirit of Chinese New Year to aid the HKSPC (Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children) in building a Children’s Resident Home. more

MADDER Final Performance

Deutsche Bank's MADD (Music, Art, Drama, Dance) programme was designed to help local primary school children improve their English skills and build confidence through participating in various workshops and activities. After running the programme successfully for three years, Deutsche Hong Kong, along with partner Hong Kong Council of Early Childhood Education and Services (CECES), launched MADDER 2012 (MADD English Robot). Chun Tok School, which provides education to students with hearing disabilities, was invited to join the programme. more

On December 15, Deutsche Bank Hong Kong partnered with Heep Hong Society to share love and hope with children aged two to six, who have specific learning difficulties and other special needs. A group of 14 Deutsche Bank staff, along with the children, their family members and Heep Hong Society staff, set out on an eventful and educational day trip to Noah’s Ark Park, a new attraction in Hong Kong aiming to foster family values and care for the environment through interactive play and entertainment. more

Christmas at Deutsche – Christmas charity bazaars and flea market

In November, the Christmas bazaars in Singapore and Hong Kong, two significant Deutsche Bank hubs in Asia, saw employees taking time off from their busy schedules to man booths selling fair trade goods made by Deutsche Bank-supported local charities as well as others across Asia, including Cambodia, Thailand, India and Philippines. Most of the products such as handbags, decorative items and fashion accessories, were made from recycled materials such as ring pull tabs, rolled magazine paper, bangles, and fabrics. The sale proceeds were donated to the participating charities to continue the Bank's work in supporting their causes. more

Race to ICC-100, Hong Kong’s tallest landmark

On December 2, Deutsche Bank staff participated in a corporate race jointly organised by Sun Hung Kai Properties and The Community Chest of Hong Kong (The Chest). The Race to ICC-100 saw about 300 runners compete as individuals and teams at the International Commerce Centre (ICC), the tallest building in Hong Kong and home to Deutsche Bank's branch offices, to raise funds for The Chest. more

Deutsche Bank volunteers assist in rice planting

Deutsche Bank works closely with The Conservancy Association, a non-governmental organization specializing in sustainable development of Long Valley, to support the livelihoods of local farmers. For the second year running, the Bank will be sponsoring the association’s Eco-Paddy programme, which aims to promote traditional rice farming techniques and create a natural habitat for several endangered species in Hong Kong. As part of our continuous support in environmental protection, Deutsche Bank has been sponsoring two farmlands in Long Valley, New Territories, which is the last and largest agricultural wetland in Hong Kong. more

Reforestation on Lantau Island

25 Global Business Services and Finance employees pulled themselves from their beds on an early Sunday morning to plant trees on Lantau Island, the largest island in Hong Kong. Lantau primarily consists of mountainous terrain and is often referred to as "the lungs of Hong Kong" given its abundance of indigenous forest and relative scarcity of high-rise residential developments. more

Over the past 25 years, Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup has become the world’s largest volunteer effort for ocean health. Nearly nine million volunteers from 152 countries and locations have cleaned 145 million pounds of trash from the shores of lakes, streams, rivers, and the ocean on just one day in September annually. more
