Deutsche Bank partners with children from Changing Young Lives Foundation to better understand organic farming

July 2012 │ Hong Kong

On July 22, 2012, Deutsche Bank partnered with the Changing Young Lives Foundation to organise a CSR event at an organic farm owned by the Produce Green Foundation. Led by the Deutsche Bank Hong Kong Risk Operations and Compliance teams, 20 volunteers connected with 30 children and their families in a day to better understand organic farming and gain environmental education.

The participants were tasked to make organic bread, which was enjoyed over lunch; they learned about paper recycling by making personalised stationery with recycled materials and rounded off the day with some exercise by cultivating plots of land to grow vegetables.  The thunderstorm signal 3 could not dampen the enthusiasm and energy of both the children and volunteers!

Produce Green Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization, was established in 1988 by a group of local enthusiasts concerned about modern farming and the environment.  The foundation set up the first organic farm in Hong Kong, focusing on promoting green lifestyles to the public through the concept of organic farming, with hopes of providing safer and healthier food and environment.

Changing Young Lives Foundation reaches out to children in need and gives them a brighter future. Their mission is to provide health, welfare, and educational and recreational programmes to enhance the lives of children. It is also their aim to develop the children’s inner strength and personality in order for them to cope with the adversities of a complex modern world.
