Deutsche Bank Hong Kong participates in the 20th Dress Casual Day

October 2012 │ Hong Kong

Deutsche Bank participated in the Hong Kong-wide 20th annual Dress Casual Day, a charity event organised by The Community Chest. Employees were offered the chance to donate and come to work in casual wear in order to support the 153 local charities that are beneficiaries of the Community Chest.

[Experience of a Volunteer, Cyrus Chan]

Having volunteered to help out with this event, I was amazed at the tremendous efforts that the CSR committee makes in order to manage these initiatives.  Through careful planning, a handful of volunteers and I were able to design the process by which we would run the event.   From marketing to the logistics of collecting donations, there were uncountable things to take into consideration.  Were it not for the continuous support from our colleagues in CRES, Communications, the Women’s Network, and volunteers from all divisions of the Bank, this task would surely have been impossible.

At collection stations that week in the mornings on L48 Sky Lobby and lunchtimes at Pier 56, volunteers would show up with enthusiasm in their CSR t-shirts.  As employees were walking by after their morning commute or on their way to lunch, they were willing to come over and donate and support the cause.  Through these efforts and all our colleagues’ commitment to CSR, we were able to raise HK$54,030.

Being on the organising committee for this event was hard work and sometimes caused a great deal of stress.  However, it was all worth it on Friday September 28 when the office was filled with smiles and people dressed casually.  After participating in this event, it was clear to me that CSR creates a huge positive impact in both the community and on our own employees.
