Health camp and awareness sessions organized for 148 students in Bangalore, India

September 2011 │ India

In partnership with ELCIA Trust, six to seven volunteers from Deutsche Bank Operations International in Bangalore, India conduct health and hygiene awareness workshops for students in the Dodda Nagamangala Government School every week. To spice things up, volunteers also regularly coach the students games such as kho-kho and kabaddi.

In continuation of this engagement, a health camp was organized for the 148 students of the school on 6 August in association with the RV Dental College, Vittala Eye Hospital and a pediatrician, Dr. Kumar. The students were given free general, dental and eye check-ups. The dentists also held an oral health education session for the students.

The volunteers are currently following up with hospitals to provide further medical treatments for students who need it. A volunteer commented that the camp was “a truly exceptional experience” and another suggested providing awareness to parents as well to enable them to better care for their child. Going forward, our corporate volunteers are also working to bring the health camp to other government schools associated with ELCIA Trust.
