September 2012 │ India

GreenKarbon Photography Competition, which runs from April 2012 to March 2013, is a part of the national GreenKarbon initiative by Deutsche Bank India and Sanctuary Asia. The GreenKarbon initiative is a unique biodiversity campaign that helps spread awareness of the important role nature plays in mitigating climate change.

The GreenKarbon Photography Competition recently announced the winners of Expedition 2 of the year-long contest.  The contest so far has drawn top-class entries numbering over 1,000 from all over India. The judges’ panel, comprising Gunit Chadha, Co-CEO Asia Pacific, Deutsche Bank; Bittu Sahgal, avid environmental activist, writer and founding editor of Sanctuary Asia; and Ramki Sreenivasan, Bangalore-based entrepreneur, wildlife photographer, advisor to green/social start-ups and chief coordinator for Conservation India, has expressed its amazement at the wonderful entries the competition has attracted so far.

Chadha said, “The response to the photography contest has been very encouraging. The talent and the awareness of one’s natural surroundings that these individuals have showcased through the power of their lenses, is phenomenal. This contest is about raising awareness, and it not only gives participants the chance to be a part of the climate change solution, but also helps them get recognition on a national platform.”
