The 2013 fourth-quarter visit was a full-day Corporate Responsibility activity held on November 23. To continue supporting the construction of hostels at the school, Deutsche Bank made a donation and undertook field work, with 63 volunteers from the Mumbai and Pune Centres joining hands to perform various construction tasks. The four hours of volunteering included cleaning up the debris and levelling the ground, transferring construction materials, and cleaning of the ground to create a volleyball play area.
After much sweating, the volunteers joined the school staff in a sumptuous lunch, which reflected the spirit behind the statement by Mr Ravi Limaye, Founder Director of Pali Ashramshala: "DBOI Global Service volunteers are now a part of the Ashramshala family. There are no formalities; it is just one member of the family helping another. We eagerly await the visit of volunteers every quarter and so do our students."
Some of the volunteers purchased handicraft work on display, such as embroidered bags and purses, on the spot. The handicrafts were hand-made by senior female students. A quick volleyball match between volunteers and students saw the day to its close. Many volunteers visiting the school for the first time have expressed their willingness to sign up for future volunteering initiatives, while those visiting the school again chose to call themselves the 'lifetime volunteers for Pali Ashramshala'.
The next visit will be in the first quarter of 2014.
