India’s Corporate Responsibility Week begins with support for Pali Girls’ Hostel Construction

September 2013 │ India

The India’s Corporate Responsibility Week in Mumbai started on a high note with over sixty corporate volunteers joining hands to support construction work of a girl’s hostel at Pali Ashramshala on Saturday, September 21.

For the past one and a half years, the Mumbai Service Centre has worked towards various development initiatives for Pali Ashramshala, which supports academic and welfare needs of over 800 tribal children. The school is currently in the process of demolishing an old and dilapidated building structure to make way for a new girls’ hostel building. Deutsche Bank volunteers helped kick-start the construction work by segregating construction material and leveling the grounds. The construction activities involved tasks such as segregating and rearranging bricks for construction, digging mounds of earth and carrying mud and brick pieces to lay a pathway, and cutting the grass to level the grounds.  In addition, some volunteers also helped to clean and rearrange the scientific equipments and samples used in the school’s Science Laboratory.

Towards the end of the day, the students showcased their talent with some dances and songs. They were joined enthusiastically by Deutsche Bank volunteers. The event ended with the Corporate Responsibility team presenting a check of INR 100,000 as donation for procuring uniforms for the female students of classes 8 - 10. This event not only displayed Deutsche Bank’s commitment to Social Responsibility, but also further enhanced the spirit of camaraderie, as volunteers across the Bank and its Service Centres in Mumbai worked together realising the true passion to perform.
