The distribution of presents were made to children from schools of Roche Bois (624 kids), Bois Marchand – Ecole Ste Famille (150 kids), Shelter of Pointe aux Sables (170 kids) and the SDF (100 kids). Besides giving out Christmas gifts, Deutsche Bank (also remitted a donation to Ecole Ste Famille to assist the school in the furnishing and painting of three classrooms.
According to the Chief Country Officer of Deutsche Bank Mauritius), Mike Bird, “Deutsche Bank is strongly committed to contributing to the communities in which it operates. Through our CSR programme, we have lent our support to the Lions Club to sponsor the distribution of Christmas gifts to over 1,000 disadvantaged children. Our staff are strongly encouraged to participate in our corporate volunteering programme and they have taken the time out of their busy schedules to share some time with these children for this festive month. For Deutsche Bank, this initiative is all about bringing Christmas merriment to the less privileged kids within our community and making a difference to some of the children in Mauritius who are most in need of support. Children are the future of this country and should be given every opportunity in life. Sadly that doesn’t always happen so the Lions Club tries to do exactly that for disadvantaged kids right here and we congratulate them for this endeavour.”
Mario Hannelas, President of the Lions Club of Port Louis has highlighted “We are indeed grateful to Deutsche Bank who ensured that vulnerable children are not abandoned amidst this period of fun and celebration. These particular schools were identified as they were within the perimeter of activities of the club. It gives one great satisfaction to see the smile and excitement on the children’s faces when they were given the presents”.
The headmasters of the different schools expressed their gratitude to the organizations such as Lions Club of Port Louis and Deutsche Bank which have over the years sustained this CSR programme for their schools.
