In addition, Deutsche Bank Pakistan volunteers were also actively working on the ground. On 22 September, six staff members, with the support of the Pakistan army, made a round trip of approximately 600 kilometres from Karachi to distribute 5,000 water filters to flood victims living in temporary relief camps in Sehwan, Sind Province, which currently house over 2,000 families. The volunteers worked systematically to demonstrate to families the use and maintenance of the filters. They also translated the user manuals in local languages (Urdu and Sindhi) for the users. Army officials were appreciative of the Bank’s contributions and commented that the water filters were effective and very user-friendly.
