Deutsche Bank Manila Branch's recently-concluded Dulos at Binhi (Trowel and Seed) programme on April 18 was a huge success. They only need to pass the entrance examinations, submit the required documents and settle the tuition fees. For Brian, it was a little more complicated. For one, his family did not have the resources to provide for his education. Second, Brian is blind. more

Building a brighter home -- Phase 1 of ACSF community building

The Deutsche Bank Group Manila Corporate Responsibility (CR) pillar completed another successful and colourful community-building activity at a home for street children run by the Asian Students Christian Foundation (ACSF) in Rodriguez, Rizal on Friday, March 20. Despite an earlier typhoon notice, more than 60 Deutsche Bank employees volunteered for several activities, all requiring patience and strength. Teamwork drove the team to finish tasks efficiently -- painting walls and rooms, building a fence for the back yard, building a stable clothesline and decorating cork boards. more

Art Ed Session I: Painting Joy with Watercolour

Building for the future: painting smiles on children’s faces

In September 2014, Deutsche Knowledge Services (DKS) embarked on a two-month long collaboration with a local charitable institution, Holy Family Home (HFH), to carry out minor renovations inside the facility. Tucked in a low-lying populous community , HFH is one of the many charities supported by DKS in line with its Corporate Responsibility (CR) initiatives. HFH provides shelter, scholarships, and counselling to some 30 children from marginalised families. more

ArtEd is an offshoot programme of Appreciating Art in Deutsche Bank, fully devoted to teaching different forms of art to street children. This is in line with the bank’s belief that art is important in inspiring innovation, strengthening employees’ connection to the Bank’s values, and ultimately, in driving culture not only within its employee base but also within the society where it operates. more

Four AkarakA scholars graduate from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Philippines

Another batch of AkarakA scholars received their diplomas at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde commencement exercise on February 22, 2014. Among the graduates at the Philippine International Convention Centre were four AkarakA scholars: Kristen Joy Atregenio, Dominic Medado III, Mariefe Picid, and Jhoanna Kate Sanchez. They celebrated their accomplishment with pride and satisfaction, having succeededdespite facing numerous challenges. In Dominic’s case, he had to put his education on hold for a year due to his family’s finances. Proud families watched the graduates marched onstage, with Mariefe Picid marking the moment with a fist pump. more

Christmas at Deutsche – Christmas charity bazaars and flea market

In November, the Christmas bazaars in Singapore and Hong Kong, two significant Deutsche Bank hubs in Asia, saw employees taking time off from their busy schedules to man booths selling fair trade goods made by Deutsche Bank-supported local charities as well as others across Asia, including Cambodia, Thailand, India and Philippines. Most of the products such as handbags, decorative items and fashion accessories, were made from recycled materials such as ring pull tabs, rolled magazine paper, bangles, and fabrics. The sale proceeds were donated to the participating charities to continue the Bank's work in supporting their causes. more

Working in partnership with Childhope Asia, a non-profit organization that works with vulnerable children, Deutsche Knowledge Services (DKS) in Manila, Philippines initiated the Rock-Ed (short for rock education) programme in 2009 as an opportunity for vulnerable children living on the streets to appreciate and learn about music. Every Saturday, different groups of 15 to 20 DKS staff volunteers meet 30 street children for a four-hour music session where the children are offered a meal and coached on how to play instruments such as the acoustic guitar, keyboard, drums and mentored in vocal and dance choreography. more
