Representing both Deutsche Bank Manila (DBMN) and Deutsche Knowledge Services (DKS), Chief Operating Officer of DBMN Rhoneil Fajardo, Chief Executive Officer of DKS Ed Valencia and DKS Corporate Responsibility Head Ramon-Alfonso Sarza were on hand to share in the festivities with the young men and women of FCED. Everyone was treated to entertaining musical performances plus testimonies form the successful graduates.
The partnership between Deutsche Bank and FCED was established in May 2009, with Deutsche Bank providing financial assistance to support the basic education of 300 poor urban children and youths in Paco and Pandacan, Manila. The graduation is an important milestone in the partnership between the Bank and FCED.
Viel Borja, one of the four beneficiaries, said, “Life's finest hour is when we do good things for nameless people without expecting them to remember our acts of kindness. My deepest gratitude is extended to FCED and Deutsche Bank for changing the nameless ‘me’ into a good and productive citizen. Receiving your scholarship took financial pressure off my family. Your generosity is appreciated and accepted with extreme honour. Thank you sincerely for believing in me.” He graduated with a degree in Business Administration.
Deutsche Bank will continue to support FCED and other beneficiaries with the scholarship programme as the Bank believes in the value of education – especially in the Philippines where in many areas, a proper education is hardly a right, and rather a privilege.
