Christmas at Deutsche – Christmas charity bazaars and flea market
December 2012 │ Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines
In November, the Christmas bazaars in Singapore and Hong Kong, two significant Deutsche Bank hubs in Asia, saw employees taking time off from their busy schedules to man booths selling fair trade goods made by Deutsche Bank-supported local charities as well as others across Asia, including Cambodia, Thailand, India and Philippines. Most of the products such as handbags, decorative items and fashion accessories, were made from recycled materials such as ring pull tabs, rolled magazine paper, bangles, and fabrics. The sale proceeds were donated to the participating charities to continue the Bank's work in supporting their causes.
The same spirit of giving was also demonstrated at Deutsche Knowledge Services' Annual Flea Market in Manila, Philippines, where employees sold a variety of pre-owned office and household equipment such as books, lamps, camera lenses, watches and Blackberries to raise funds for charity. There was a definite excitement in the office with staff engaged in early but busy Christmas shopping while doing their bit for the less fortunate.
