These children belonged to three beneficiaries supported by Deutsche Bank and DKS, namely Childhope Asia Philippines (CHAP), the Cancer Treatment and Support Foundation (CTSF), and the Resources for the Blind Inc. (RBI).
The enthusiasm of some 87 corporate volunteers from DKS and DB Manila were not dampened by the inclement weather. The children could not get enough of the story-telling, parlour games, carnival rides and bonding sessions with the volunteers who became their Ate and Kuya (elder sister / elder brother) for a day.
As the corporate volunteers took care of the children, the day also provided rest for the children's guardians. This affair also became an avenue for the volunteers to get a deeper understanding of the charities and the work that they do.
In appreciation of their Ates and Kuyas, the children put up a delightful performance of song and dance which was very much appreciated by the volunteers.
To end the day, the children were handed three bags of different goodies (grocery items, candies/biscuits, blankets/school supplies). These gifts were donated and re-packed by our corporate volunteers prior to the event.
Thanks to all the volunteers and to the members of the working group who devoted time in planning and preparing for the event.
