This program is in collaboration with the Sem Pringpuangkeo Foundation (SPF), a local non-government organisation based in northern Thailand whose aims include providing equal opportunity and social support to HIV/AIDS patients, including those from ethnic minority groups.
The ceremony took place at the Thumpin Wittayakhom School in Dokkumtai district, Phayao province. A variety of performances were put up by the scholarship recipients, including victory drum dances and other classical Thai dances , many of them unique to ethnic minorities living in northern Thailand.
Deutsche Bank has supported this programme since 2004, with full grants covering each scholar’s transportation, meals, medical assistance, school supplies and uniforms. In order to strengthen the income-generating capacity of the local community, Deutsche Bank’s support also extends to an agricultural development programme which trains family members of the scholars in raising livestock and crops.
