On May 29, eight staff from the Seoul branch had the opportunity to visit the SOS Children's Village to try their hand at taking care of 30 babies for four hours. The babies are abandoned by their families, so their daily care falls to SOS Children's Village. Volunteering at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre

On May 31, 22 Deutsche Bank Singapore employees with their family and friends arrived bright and early at ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre to build a new Star Tortoise enclosure. The enclosure, planned to be 6m x 3.5m and built out of bricks, was no easy feat. Volunteers first had to clear the messy field, mark out the area, dig trenches for the foundations, mix cement and finally lay the bricks one by one. more

To kick off 2014 with a bang, on Sunday, 16 February Deutsche Bank partnered with aidha – a non-profit organisation dedicated to ending the cycle of poverty for domestic workers through financial literacy and entrepreneurship – along with other financial institutions, to hold the Tour de Singapore bike ride. It was a huge success for aidha, with 130 cyclists touring 50, 100 and 120 kilometre distances all over Singapore. The riders started at 5:00 am and finished around noon at East Coast Park. aidha raised over SGD35,000 from the event. more

Instead of the usual animal shelter, the Cat Welfare Society operates a network of volunteers who often get together to help out at homes that adopt sick, injured or unwanted cats. more

Deutsche Bank Singapore holds charity bazaar to raise funds for Typhoon Haiyan

The annual Christmas Charity Bazaar in Singapore was held in the One Raffles Quay office on November 29. Eight local charities and one regional charity were invited to set up booths selling various items for charity, including handmade jewellery, bags, novelty items, baked goods, and finger food. Deutsche Bank volunteers championed each cause and took the lead in liaising with the charities. More than 20 volunteers helped to set up and man the stalls, enthusiastically promoting the products to colleagues. more

Planning took place a week before, and two trips to the hospice were required to complete the drawing of the trees on the pillars at the entrance of the Hospice. Two subsequent shopping missions were made to gather the necessary equipment. more

The children had loads of fun in the snow chamber and around Snow City participating in the Winter Olympics and Treasure Hunt, which is a collection of tailored activities that challenges the mind while testing the children's physical agility. Beyond Us ‘13 connects the Class of 2013 Deutsche interns with the Care Community Services Society (CCSS) seniors, bridging the younger and older generations. The interns played tour guide to the seniors at the Peranakan Museum and both groups were able to learn from each other. The elderly were able to relate very well to the exhibits and they became topics for discussion when the interns brought them through the display. Even though language barrier was an issue, the energetic and jovial interns tried their best to strike up rapport with the seniors and connected well with them. The elderly enjoyed themselves very much. more

In November, the Christmas bazaars in Singapore and Hong Kong, two significant Deutsche Bank hubs in Asia, saw employees taking time off from their busy schedules to man booths selling fair trade goods made by Deutsche Bank-supported local charities as well as others across Asia, including Cambodia, Thailand, India and Philippines. Most of the products such as handbags, decorative items and fashion accessories, were made from recycled materials such as ring pull tabs, rolled magazine paper, bangles, and fabrics. The sale proceeds were donated to the participating charities to continue the Bank's work in supporting their causes. more

Deutsche volunteers return to Siem Reap for the third year

Deutsche Bank staff in Singapore celebrated compassion through art, as they put brush to canvas and joined the local Charities of the Year (CotY) beneficiaries for a lunchtime mural painting session on Wednesday, November 28 in One Raffles Quay. The mural designed by Social Creatives, a social enterprise, celebrates Deutsche Bank's 40th anniversary in Singapore and tells the Deutsche Singapore CSR story, honouring a year of giving and volunteerism. The mural was partly painted by children and elderly community members who represented the three charities supported by CotY. more

Deutsche Bank makes ‘green music’

In celebration of Green Week, Deutsche Bank organized a workshop for employees with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) to make ‘green music’ using recycled materials. Led by SCO’s associate conductor Quek Ling Kiong, a group of more than 50 employees used various materials such as plastic bottles, books, and glass bottles to make music. A few employees were also given the chance to conduct our ‘green orchestra’, experiencing first-hand the challenges of leading an orchestra. more
