Taking children to the Singapore Art Museum

March 2013 │ Singapore

22 volunteers from Finance in Deutsche Bank Singapore accompanied 48 children from Care Community Service Society (CCSS) to the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) for an art appreciation programme, also supported by the Bank as part of the Deutsche Bank Art Bus programme.

The programme kicked off in style with the children arriving at SAM in our two very own Deutsche Bank Art Buses.  A guided tour on two learning galleries about "People and Places" was arranged. This exhibition addresses themes such as self-identity, social identity, relationships, society and culture.

Thereafter, the children were split into two groups. The upper primary did a speech and drama workshop while the lower primary had an art and craft class. A buffet lunch was served before the children were sent off with a goodie bag of stationery. The children enjoyed the session and took home interesting and educational information about art.

The Deutsche Bank Art Bus programme is a collaboration with the Museum that began in late 2009 aimed at introducing children to contemporary art. Under this programme, every week about 40 children are provided with free transportation from their schools to SAM.

The Bank’s commitment also includes subsidising the fees for customised hands-on art sessions to make art education more accessible for children aged between 6 and 12. This initiative is part of Deutsche Bank’s focus on fostering creativity -- to enable young talent in their artistic development.
