Regional volunteers build a new three-classroom building for students in Ban Nongtabak school, Lopburi province

On November 7 to 9, 16 volunteers from six countries in the APAC region travelled to Ban Nongtabak school in Nong Muang district, Lopburi province, to join 35 Deutsche Bank Bangkok staff and help build a new three-classroom building. Prior to the trip, the school only had one three-classroom building, which was insufficient to house 150 students. This is the seventh school built by Deutsche Bank’s Bangkok branch in partnership with Rong Rein Khong Noo (My School). more

Deutsche Bank Asia staff converge in Thailand to refurbish flood-affected school

On November 24, 110 employees from the Institutional Client Group (ICG) Asia, Debt Sales team converged in Bangkok, Thailand, from eleven locations across Asia to participate in a self-funded team building event to refurbish the Wat Mongkol Pugaram school. The school is located in a farming community, educating 78 primary school students, and was badly damaged by the floods in 2011. The project was conducted with the MySchool charity, a philanthropic initiative started in 1991 by Thai businessman Akraravud Chankajorn (Ohm) to improve the lives of children from economically-challenged communities of rural Thailand. more

Providing students in Lobburi Province with a new library building and computer room

On June 23-24, 2012, a group of 80 volunteers (staff and family members) from Deutsche Bank Bangkok joined hands to paint a new library building with a computer room at Baan Bor Nam School in Lobburi Province. The pre-primary and primary school is located about 220 km north-east of Bangkok. The school has 73 students and five teachers. Most of the students are from poor families. The school current has only four rooms to serve K1-K3 and Grade 1 – Grad 6 students and has no library. more

Deutsche Bank contributes to flood relief efforts in Thailand

Severe flooding in Thailand occurred during the 2011 monsoon season. Triggered by the landfall of tropical storm Nock-ten in July, flooding soon spread through the provinces of Northern, Northeastern and Central Thailand along the Mekong and Chao Phraya river basins. In October, floodwaters reached the mouth of the Chao Phraya and inundated parts of the capital city of Bangkok. Flooding persisted in some areas for many months, resulting in over 800 deaths and 14 million people affected. 65 of Thailand's 77 provinces were declared flood disaster zones, and over 20,000 square kilometers of farmland were damaged. This is considered one of the worst floods in Thailand's history. more
