In 2008 I was promoted to Senior Analyst within the Markets division, with a particular focus on Agriculture and Protein. I analyze stocks in these sectors, working closely with a large number of institutional investors. I also work with coverage companies, modeling earnings to make highly detailed recommendations to my clients.
The energy levels on Wall Street and at Deutsche Bank are incredibly high. Every day is different and I thrive on making sense of the bigger picture, and providing my clients with carefully considered analysis and advice. I might be calculating earning per share estimates, delivering market research, meeting clients, or sharing our insights with new prospects. I’ve got a great deal of autonomy – it’s almost like running my own business – and the work fulfils both my curiosity and my ambition.
The biggest challenges in my daily work environment occur when news items relating to several of our companies come out at the same time. For example, one of our companies may be reporting earnings, while another one may announce an acquisition or divestiture. It is difficult for the team to quickly interpret the information, model it, write about it and help field client and sales calls. However, once our reports are out, it’s a highly satisfying achievement.
