The MDP uses short rotations to provide exposure to new challenges and situations. I am currently on my first rotation in the Payment & Clearing Services function, working on strategic projects. It is very interesting to be taken outside of my comfort zone. I was very settled in my permanent role. Now I have to re-establish myself in a new context with different expectations. I am learning a lot about myself, as well as gaining the knowledge and skills that are needed to be a future leader within this organization.
One of the most challenging aspects of the program is that as soon as you come to terms with one environment, it is time for you to begin the process all over again on your next rotation. The program is structured to produce an open-minded attitude to change, which is especially relevant for India, where we are growing at a rapid rate in an emerging market environment.
I am enjoying working on change projects. It is fun to think of new ways to do things. The projects are shaped by multiple influences, from stakeholder priorities to regulatory deadlines. Often we are working between reporting lines, in a very fluid environment.
I have just worked on a project to improve documentation workflows for the foreign exchange business and introduce image-based clearing for local cheques. It is very rewarding to see our solutions in action.
