I was born in Kingston, Jamaica, but moved to the USA when I was about two years old. Some of my relatives were already living in the States, and my parents wanted to give me and my brother more opportunities for success. We settled in Atlanta, Georgia, where I attended the Georgia Institute of Technology. I studied industrial design and quickly discovered that I really enjoyed the entrepreneurial side of the course, and the problem solving I had to focus on. It’s really satisfying to find a solution to everyday predicaments that people might not even know they have.
This led to my interest in finance, as it’s another important element of industrial design. My interest in the world of investment banking comes from the fact that it’s excellent preparation for owning and running your own business, which has been a long-time ambition of mine. I’m not sure exactly what sort of business I’d like to have, but it’s one of my goals for the future. I should also say that I’m a ‘people person’, and love working with my colleagues. I think Deutsche Bank attracts a particular type of person; they’re typically very helpful rather than madly competitive.
