Our commitment to social responsibility
As an organization, we recognize that we are part of the societies we work in. The more stable our environment, the better our chances for success. That’s why we work to make a difference to the communities that surround us.
Sustainability: Ensuring ViabilitySustainability is an integral part of all of our activities, transcending our core business and beyond. We serve as a financial intermediary, eco-efficiency manager and climate ambassador. Climate neutrality is a key element of our climate protection strategy. We’ve set a target of putting all Bank operations on a climate-neutral footing by end of 2012.
A growing number of our employees are committed to civic leadership and responsibility with the support of the Bank. In 2010, more than 17,000 Deutsche Bank employees committed themselves to over 3,000 corporate volunteering projects. Their involvement ranges from hands on support to providing management expertise and leadership advice and donating money to our charity partners.
Corporate Volunteering: Committing Ourselves
Social Investment: Creating OpportunityWe create opportunities for people and communities. We help them overcome unemployment and poverty and shape their own futures. More than a decade ago, we became the first bank in the world to create a special microfinance fund. Our social commitment also extends to providing housing for the homeless, low-cost schooling for orphans and vulnerable children, as well as effective disaster relief.
Art & Music: Fostering CreativityWe believe that creativity and inspiration open minds to innovate solutions. That’s why we support art, music and young aspiring artists. Our commitment to art is highlighted by the Deutsche Bank Collection: one of the world's most significant collections of contemporary works on paper and photography. As well as being showcased around our offices globally, we work with several museums and art fairs around the world to open our collection to the public. We also show our commitment to art and music through longstanding partnerships with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York and the Berliner Philharmoniker.
Through our activities, we aim to broaden access to art and music experiences encouraging people to try something new and broaden their horizons.
Education: Enabling TalentWe enable talent across broad disciplines as one of the most important sources of growth and progress. Equality of opportunity is our driving motivation. From school museum trips and intercultural learning to scholarships for the less fortunate, we offer many initiatives for people to overcome personal barriers and broaden their horizons. In addition, our academic cooperations help intensify the dialog between business and science.
