Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility

Our tasks include enhancing and protecting Deutsche Bank’s reputation and brand. To this end, we inform the general public and bank employees about all key developments and assist in the dialogue with clients and shareholders. We are convinced that timely, open communication with all stakeholders and external audiences can make a decisive contribution to strengthening our bank.

Our work involves providing information via media relations, internal communication with employees and social media activities. We work to enhance the global awareness and recognition of the Deutsche Bank brand. Our market research team supplies the required data, analyses and decision-making information. Our Corporate Social Responsibility team contributes towards making Deutsche Bank's operations more sustainable in every respect – economically, ecologically and socially. Deutsche Bank supports better education and the development of social capital in numerous countries around the globe – one of our teams coordinates and augments this commitment. We also organise several hundred events every year. All these activities contribute to the public perception of Deutsche Bank.

Corporate Finance

As one segment of the Corporate & Investment Bank, our Corporate Finance business provides the full range of products and services of a leading global investment bank. Our clients include large-cap and mid-cap corporates, financial institutions, governments, government agencies and financial sponsors.

We recognise that selecting the right investment banking partner can be the key to a company’s success. Our relationships are enhanced by industry sector, country and regional expertise, closely aligned to high-quality client solutions: both buyside and sellside Mergers & Acquisitions and restructuring advisory - and capital raising services.

We are able to advise on innovative cross-border and regional transactions in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Corporate & Investment Bank

The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) combines Deutsche Bank’s Corporate Finance, Global Markets and Global Transaction Banking businesses. This new business division was created in 2017 with the aim to ensure greater alignment of product and sales efforts, enabling the bank to deliver a better service to clients and a more focused resource allocation.

Corporate Finance is comprised of regional and industry-focused coverage teams that ensure the delivery of the entire range of financial products and services to the bank’s corporate clients. The business includes the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team as well as the debt and equity capital markets (DCM and ECM) teams.

Global Markets develops and structures customised solutions for institutional clients including asset managers, banks, insurers, corporations and pension funds. We help them to generate returns and hedge risks and on their investments. We do this by providing access to liquid asset types, such as debt, currency, fixed income and equity products, as well as illiquid assets such as financing for ships, aircraft, real estate and infrastructure projects. We provide our clients with the global capital markets expertise of a major universal bank and direct access to the German and international markets.

Global Transaction Banking (GTB) is a leading global provider of cash management, trade finance and securities services, delivering the full range of commercial banking products and services for both corporates and institutions worldwide.

Corporate Services

Corporate Services provides real estate, facilities management, procurement and logistics services to deliver superior commercial value for the bank. We oversee a global property portfolio in more than 60 countries. As well as defining the standards for our retail branches, providing working environments that help boost productivity, we’re also working to uphold the bank’s commitment to carbon neutrality and sustainable operations.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Deutsche Bank and its foundations act to enable communities and local economies to prosper.

Through our Born to Be youth engagement programme, we support educational initiatives. With Made for Good, we help social enterprises realise their business ideas and create wider social good. We work at the grassroots level to improve the day-to-day well-being of those in need and to help communities find longer-term solutions to their challenges. In 2016, we were able to reach 4.9 million people worldwide with our corporate social responsibility projects.

There also is a strong culture of employee engagement at Deutsche Bank. During 2016, around 17,000 employees – one in five of the workforce – volunteered in over 3,000 projects worldwide.

DB Research

Deutsche Bank Research is responsible for macroeconomic analysis within Deutsche Bank Group. It analyses relevant trends for the bank in financial markets, business and society. DB Research delivers high-quality, independent analysis and actively promotes public debate on economic, fiscal, labour market and social policy issues.

Deutsche Asset Management

With EUR 723 billion of assets under management, Deutsche Asset Management is one of the world’s leading investment management organizations. Deutsche Asset Management offers individuals and institutions traditional and alternative investments across all major asset classes.

Our products and solutions provide flexible access to a wide range of investment opportunities across all asset classes. Products range from pooled funds to highly customized portfolios for a wide range of investors. Finance is playing a central role in keeping the bank focused on simplification and financial resource management.

With our diverse teams in 47 countries, we offer a broad portfolio of capabilities. Our key functions range from Group Finance, Treasury, Planning and Performance Management, and Investor Relations to enabling functions such as Finance Change and Administration. These teams make sure we cover all Finance specific aspects for our internal and external stakeholders such as shareholder, employees, clients and regulators. Together, it is the role of Finance to oversee all financial details for Deutsche Bank globally.

Global Governance Function

The Global Governance Function (GGF) addresses the increasing regulatory focus on clear governance structures. The team strengthens Deutsche Bank by anchoring the organization to a set of governance rules and procedures which are simple, universal, enforceable, documented and measurable.

We are empowered to set the governance framework for DB Group globally, to facilitate its cross-unit application and to monitor its implementation. We develop and safeguard effective corporate governance structures that are based on clear and consistent roles and responsibilities.

Global Markets

Global Markets develops and structures customised solutions for institutional clients including asset managers, banks, insurers, corporations and pension funds.

Group Audit

The Group Audit (GA) function has over 700 staff located in our four hub locations New York, London, Frankfurt, Singapore and 26 other countries.
The hallmarks of our professional, business focused, proactive risk-based work are transparency, integrity and independence. We assist the bank’s businesses and infrastructure functions to identify control weaknesses.

Being Deutsche Bank’s ‘third line of defence’ we have a high profile in the bank acting as an independent and forward looking challenger and adviser to Senior Management on issues and occurrences and are increasingly consulted for advice by the regulators.

Group Chief Security Office

The Group Chief Security Office comprises both Corporate Security and Information Security. Every day new threats emerge which could impact the effectiveness of the bank’s operations. Together we run security operations globally to protect the bank’s people, infrastructure, processes and information.

We work with every business division, regional management and all employees to protect our business operations and facilities, and to maintain the safety and security of our people. We support the resiliency to, recovery from, and the management of crisis events.

Protecting client and staff information is about trust. We work constantly to secure information and systems in order to sustain our revenue streams, and preserve our reputation. We build security controls into every layer of technology, including data, devices, and applications. And we monitor our systems around the clock to detect threats and respond to incidents globally.

Group Management Consulting

Group Management Consulting plays a key role in implementing the vision of Deutsche Bank Group. We report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and support the bank’s Senior Management in detailing and executing the strategy of Deutsche Bank Group. In Frankfurt, London, Singapore and New York, our teams take responsibility for leading and supporting strategically important projects in collaboration with our international partners.

Our project portfolio consists of strategic and transformational initiatives, product development, restructuring programme, and process optimization. Thanks to our variety of projects, our deep understanding of the Group’s structure and our ongoing growth and development, we provide the ideal environment to launch or advance a career within Deutsche Bank.

Group Tax

Group Tax manages the Bank's tax affairs through its two functions, Tax Reporting and Compliance and Tax Advisory Services.

Tax Reporting and Compliance is responsible for internal and external tax reporting and disclosures, tax accounting policies, the Bank's effective tax rate and other key tax metrics. This function also manages the Bank's compliance with local tax obligations, tax filings, and tax audits and disputes.

Tax Advisory Services partners with business areas and other infrastructure functions across the Bank to provide tax advice on business transactions and products, corporate acquisitions and divestitures, and internal structuring and organization. The function is responsible for tax related risk parameters in these areas and collaboration with governmental bodies in connection with the development of tax legislation.

HR Solutions

DB HR Solutions GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Deutsche Bank and one of its global operations departments, provides Human Resources services worldwide. Equipped with process- and IT-expertise, we deliver numerous HR services and products in the highest possible quality.

As part of Human Resources (HR), we are a dedicated team that provides expert advice in areas such as personnel administration, payroll, recruiting, personnel service line as well as HR IT systems and reporting. We provide a first-in-class service and ensure a seamless execution of HR processes.


Legal is responsible for managing the legal risk of Deutsche Bank Group. Our mission is to ensure that legal services are provided to the bank with the goals of protecting its integrity and reputation and managing legal risk to make transactions viable and safe. We partner with Risk, Regulation, Compliance, Group Audit and others to provide a proactive integrated risk management approach.

We work closely with managers to coordinate activities across business lines so we avoid violations of laws. We make sure the Bank has up-to-date information on regulatory and legal changes and continues to be seen as a trusted, respected market participant.


Operations provides support for all of Deutsche Bank’s businesses to enable them to deliver transactions and processes to clients. Our people work in established global financial centres such as London, New York, Frankfurt and Singapore, as well as specialist development and service centres in locations including Bucharest, Moscow, Pune, Dublin and Cary. We process payments in excess of a trillion euros across the bank’s platforms, support thousands of trading desks and enable millions of banking transactions, share trades and emails every day.

Private & Commercial Bank

Deutsche Bank's newly established Private & Commercial Bank (PCB) corporate division combines the bank's expertise in private and commercial banking with Postbank in Germany and Wealth Management in one corporate division.

Both in our home market of Germany and internationally, PCB offers our clients high-quality advice and a wide range of financial services from a single source. These range from comprehensive services for retail clients, to solutions for demanding clients in Private Banking and Wealth Management, to business and commercial client coverage.

Private & Commercial Clients

Deutsche Bank provides banking and other financial services to private and commercial clients in Germany, Europe and Asia. These include payment and current account services, investment management and retirement planning, as well as personal loans and mortgages. We also provide small and medium-sized clients with solutions ranging from start-up financing to structured finance. Together with the Corporate & Investment Bank, we are able to utilise the opportunities in interest rate and foreign currency management, foreign trade and the capital markets.

As the leading private bank in our home market, together with Postbank, we serve more than 20 million clients in Germany, as well as over 3.5 million clients abroad. We have more than 1,300 branches in Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Poland and India.

Regulation, Compliance & Anti-Financial Crime

Regulation, Compliance and Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) protects the integrity and reputation of Deutsche Bank. It manages the Bank’s risks and help to avert unintentional rule breaches and conflicts of interest.

At the same time, we also advise the bank on ethical conduct and governance issues and keep the bank up to date on regulatory and political challenges.


The Risk division has a fundamental responsibility to protect the Bank. With group-wide responsibility for the management and control of credit, market, operational and reputational risks, we have a unique vantage point which allows us a holistic view of our businesses and our clients.
