A version of Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut” will be performed for children this year at the Festspielhaus. For children five years and older, the academy scholars have rewritten Puccini’s successful opera about a women who has everything but loses it all because she cannot hold on to anything. The young viewers are actively engaged in the performance and become part of a fantastic story.
In Theater Baden-Baden, the AMH team “Scandal in Baden-Baden!” presents a double performance consisting of two chamber operas by Bertolt Brecht together with Kurt Weill and Paul Hindemith. “Mahagonny-Songspiel” (also known as “The Little Mahagonny”) from Brecht and Weill and “Lehrstück” from Hindemith were both performed at the end of the 1920s and drew strong reactions from viewers, particularly because of a bloody scene, which shocked them.
