Sports Scholarship holder of the Year 2020
Top performances in sports and studies
Since 2012, the Deutsche Bank Sport Scholarship has been given to young talents who embark on a dual career in sports and university studies. The Deutsche Bank scholarship currently enables around 300 athletes to do their best in both disciplines. Among them are numerous World and European Junior Champions, as well as medal winners at the World Championships, European Championships, Olympic Games, and Paralympics.
Every year, the “Sports Scholarship Holder of the Year" is awarded. Besides the winner in 2020, Annabel Breuer, the following candidates vied for the prize:
- Leonie Beck won the bronze medal in swimming at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in South Korea and earned a bachelor’s degree in media communication in 2019.
- Cécile Pieper won silver with the German Field Hockey National Team at the 2019 European Championships and has a master’s degree in psychology.
- Jonathan Rommelmann won gold at the 2019 European World Rowing Championships and bronze at the 2019 European Rowing Championships. He has a degree in Human Medicine.
- Julius Thole won the silver medal at the 2019 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Hamburg. He is currently studying law in Hamburg.
