Following the devastating floods in Thailand, Deutsche Bank Asia Foundation (DBAF) has been working with the Bank's local management in Bangkok to assess the most effective response.
On October 10, 500 emergency kits containing drinking water, instant food products, blankets and health products were donated to Nation TV Channel and THB 300,000 was donated to Channel 3 to purchase about 60 boats.
To-date, THB 500,000 has been donated by DBAF, as well as local and regional staff. Staff in the Bank’s Bangkok branch is to be complimented for their positive spirit and generosity despite being impacted by the disaster themselves. With the continuing rise of the flood waters, DBAF is now pledging an additional USD 100,000 (EUR 71,200) to further support the victims.
Deutsche Bank is working closely with local aid agencies to identify the most appropriate manner to deliver the donation so that it offers sustainable and direct benefits to the affected communities. The situation is being monitored closely and the need for further relief commitments gauged.
