Kemang Wa Lehulere - BIRD SONG

September 27 2017 ? Milano

It took place yesterday at MAXXI museum in Rome the opening of the exhibition "BIRD SONG" by Kemang Wa Lehulere, Deutsche Bank's "Artist of the Year" 2017.

MAXXI, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts, is the first Italian national institution devoted to contemporary creativity and one of the leading centers in the increasingly dynamic Italian contemporary Arts scenario. Chaired by former Minister Giovanna Melandri, with the artistic direction of Mr. Hou Hanru, also member of Deutsche Bank's Global Art Advisory Council, the museum is hosted in a building designed by Iraqi-British archistar Zaha Hadid and it is conceived as a broad cultural campus for Arts and Architecture (http://www.maxxi.art/en/).

400 guests from the industrial, institutional and artistic environment in Rome attended the evening cocktail party, with the opportunity to have special visits to the exhibition, also guided by Wa Lehulere himself. Among the attendants, the German Ambassador to Italy Susanne Marianne Wasum-Rainer and many clients of the Bank. Positive coverage also on Italian media, with several newspapers, including leading dailies Corriere della Sera and La Repubblica, along with a number of arts outlets and local press reporting the news.

The exhibition "BIRD SONG", opened to the public in Rome from today to November 26, was inaugurated last March at Deutsche Bank KunstHalle in Berlin and is now part of MAXXI's Expanding The Horizon initiatives promoted by the museum to develop global ambitions and collaborations with institutions and private collections.
