Together with San Patrignano in the fight against drug dependency

The Fondazione Deutsche Bank Italia is progressing the Deutsche Bank's historic commitment to the fight against drugs in Italy by supporting the Community of San Patrignano, the most important drug dependency recovery centre in Europe, which has been supporting young people with drug problems for more than thirty years and seeing that they are returned to society.

Amongst the various fund collecting activities the community organises is an annual charity auction in Milan, between November and December. A gala evening where the protagonists are the young people of San Patrignano. Deutsche Bank and its Foundation have been supporting this important occasion since 2010.

So much has been achieved in recent years together thanks to the auction, helping the young in various aspects of their daily lives: from projects linked to sports, to educational activities and even initiatives to extend health and reception facilities.

The Community of San Patrignano

The Community of San Patrignano is the most important anti-drug centre in all of Europe and it houses over 1,300 young people. From 1978 to the present day, San Patrignano has welcomed more than 25,000 people from hundreds of different nations, totally free of charge, without charges for either their families or the State, offering them a home, health and legal assistance, the possibility to study, learn a trade and return fully to society at the end of their recovery path. According to research carried out by the University of Bologna, which monitored a group of former guests in the community five years on from their return to society, 72% of the young people who complete the path successfully do not fall back into the problem of drug dependency.
