The code of talent

"The code of talent" is an exclusive cultural initiative dedicated to safeguarding and promoting know-how and knowing how to create, through the collaboration between the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte and the Fondazione Deutsche Bank Italia.

First beneficiaries of this project are the Italian Schools of Excellence which teach young people traditional craft trades, a cross between manufacturing and the creation of works of art. These include restoration, dress-making, leather working, cooking, decorating and jewellery, just to name a few. The directory, conceived as a guidance and information tool, has been designed to offer young people a wide and comprehensive overview of the dozens of training facilities operating in Italy.

This project led to the creation of two tools.

- The website www.scuolemestieridarte.it, the primary guidance and information directory, which contains hundreds of addresses of arts and trade schools throughout Italy, so that young people who are interested in cultivating their professional training will be able to find out what is on offer in their area and find out about the institutes that are available.

- The book "The code of talent", which describes 17 of the best Italian schools for arts and crafts trades. Schools that may be different but which have common denominators: a high standard of teaching, a vision for the future, a tradition that is historically linked to the sector.

Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte

Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte is a private non profit organization set up in Milan in 1995 by Franco Cologni, who is its President. Its initiatives, which aim at a "new Renaissance" of the crafts, are directed chiefly at the young: training new generations of artisans, and thus rescuing
métiers d'art activities and skills from the threat of disappearance, is in fact one of the objectives that the foundation pursues.
